Kendrick Lamar es el gran triunfador de la edición 2017 de los MTV Video Music Awards. El rapero ya partía como gran favorito con ocho nominaciones, de las cuales se ha llevado seis, entre ellas el más importante de los 'Moon Person' de la noche: el de Mejor Video del Año.

Kendrick Lamar está imparable con su álbum DAMN., cosechando también los premios a mejores efectos especiales, mejor dirección artística, mejor dirección, mejor fotografía y mejor vídeo de hip-hop por el vídeo de 'HUMBLE.', en el que aparece vestido de Papa o como Jesucristo en la Última Cena.
Originario de Compton, en el sur de Los Ángeles, Kendrick Lamar abrió la gala de los MTV Video Music Awards en el estadio de Inglewood vestido de rojo sobre un escenario negro iluminado por luces láser.
Katy Perry se encargó de conducir una gala cargada de grandes actuaciones, la espectacular puesta en escena de Kendrick Lamar, la emotividad de Miley Cyrus, el playback justificado de Lorde o la llamativa representación de Katy Perry y Nicki Minaj, ¡entre muchas más sorpresas! Pero en la noche de los MTV VMAs 2017 también hubo tiempo para los mensajes en contra del racismo y la discriminación, con frases de apoyo y esperanzadoras para aquellos que sufren.
